The iPhone X premiered a new design all screen that presumably will remain valid for several years. However, it is not known what the future will bring and one of the most rumored possibilities is the arrival of flexible or folding devices.

It is rumored that Samsung will present a folding device in the coming months and Apple could be thinking of something similar if we heed the latest patent granted to Apple.

The folding iPhone could arrive in the future

It is not the first time that we hear rumors and patents about a possible flexible iPhone, but at the moment Apple has not released any device of this type, perhaps because the current technology does not allow it to be carried out with guarantees.

A folding iPhone would allow to have a large screen device in a more portable size. It would be a way to have a screen like an iPad in a size like an iPhone. In the images of the patent you can see how it could be folded like a book, leaving the screen inside, but it could also fold out.

Although it may seem interesting, it is a concept that, if it is not done well, may end up failing miserably. There are some problems to solve and it is not clear that it is a better solution to the current one.

The first problem is to get flexible components, not only the screen should be flexible, the device and internal components should also be flexible. And this type of flexible components can have more problems and break down before.

On the other hand we have the problems of using own device. When folded is it comfortable to use? and when it is open is stable ?, there are many unknowns put in this type of flexible devices, although many could be solved soon if the patents of Apple become something real.
