The iPad Pro is very recognizable for being able to be used with the Apple Pencil, but be careful because we usually ignore that Smart Connector that at the moment can only be used with the Smart Keyboard. And as reflected in AppleInsider from FastCompany, that could change sooner rather than later for the better.
That medium has published a piece about how that connector has had a fairly isolated life so far, with the testimony of some accessory manufacturers. And in a rather unusual way, Apple has repsondido the medium stating that "several companies" are making accessories that will work with that port.
A port braked by the "most" standards
Naturally it has not been mentioned or what companies are doing it or when we will see those accessories for sale, that depends on each manufacturer. In the Fast Company article companies such as Incipio argued that the Smart Connector is a very limited port compared to other standards.
If for example you want to make a keyboard for the iPad, it is much easier to do Bluetooth and battery than not go through the demanding controls of Apple to connect to the Smart Connector. The position of the port, the energy that it lets pass ... are factors that throw back all the manufacturers.
But apparently, and after having left all this time margin, we will see the odd thing in a few months. It will be interesting to see how these manufacturers have managed to take advantage of the Smart Connector.
